Restoration in general Print E-mail

At Heideveld Classics Zwolle we carry out partial and full restorations on classic cars of different makes. The customer decides how far the restoration is taken, depending on his wishes and budget. We generally recommend to restore a classic car as much as possible to its original state, but if you wish to deviate from originality - within certain limits - we will follow your personal wishes. Keep in mind however that non-originality may negatively affect the price if you ever want to sell the car. You decide if you want to re-use original nuts and bolts - if still in a decent condition - or you want them to be replaced with new ones. If it comes to things like a new paint job or interior trim, you can decide about the budget, and thus the quality level, you are happy with. We will recommend you not to cut too much on the cost of a paint job, since this seriously affects the value of your car.

This Austin Healey was painted in top quality

It is also possible to have a full restoration carried out step-wise. This gives you the oppportunity to spread the cost over a longer period, or to have a partial restoration done during winter and be able to drive during summer.

Car restoration is a special skill that benefits from a structured approach. This ensures keeping a good overview on the multitude of parts after disassembly. While disassembling we start to make an inventory list of parts that need replacement. This allows us to make a rough estimate of the cost and to order new parts in time. This speeds up the final assembly process considerably.

If you wish to carry out some of the restoration work yourself, and leave the more difficult jobs to us, that's no problem. We will be happy to give you advice and we can deliver the necessary spare parts if you like.

Although we generally prefer to restore a car to its original state, as much as possible, we are not unwilling to accept other projects, such as custom restorations, like the Buick below, or even "pimp my ride" projects.

Although we generally work on older cars, we also welcome special "youngtimers" that are in need of some rejuvenation work. We have recently repainted this BMW M5, the last of the E28 series (1987):

Maintenance work on classic cars is another major activity of us. Routine maintenance and APK (MOT) testing of classics can in principle also be done by modern garages, but they often lack the knowledge of classic car technology. Knowledge that we can offer as a result of many years of experience with classic cars. All maintenance and repair work is aimed to keep your classic on the road as much as possible. So we give you proper advice on the maintenance requirements of your particular car. If a part needs replacement, we will discuss this with you first, explain the reasons for the replacement and the possible cause. Quality matters to us ! We are not devoted to particular makes and models, so you can come to us with any classic car. If you are interested in our services, feel free to contact us. We can show you lots of photographs of work we have done in the past.

We are not afraid of exclusive cars, given the fact that this Aston Martin DB 2-4 Mk II is maintained by us:
